INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – In spite of the coronavirus, the 2020 Census is being launched.

So called ‘invitations’ to participate are arriving in the mail. Each contains instructions for an on-line questionnaire. They are in English, Spanish and eleven other languages.

So far at last count, 30% of the households have responded in Riverside County and 28% in San Bernardino County. during the 2010 Census, about two-thirds responded.

For households that haven’t responded, the Census Bureau is following up with reminder letters.

Those who will be counted include the number of people living at a specific address as of April 1st.

The Census Bureau says it is adjusting some operations because of the coronavirus pandemic by protecting the health and safety of its staff and the public, and fulfilling its statutory requirement to deliver the 2020 Census count on schedule.

Specifically, the Census Bureau has suspended field operations and altered timeframes for the 2020 Census.
