Robbery get-away vehicle involved in deadly crash
NUEVO (INT) Authorities investigating a violent crash on the Ramona Expressway Tuesday say it involved a vehicle that had fled from a robbery.

The California Highway Patrol and Calfire said the impact of the crash east of Hansen Avenue in Nuevo left one vehicle in pieces and started a fire.

The suspected robber, Gabriel Dominic Romero, 23, of Perris, died at the scene and two other people in a large pickup truck survived with moderate injuries.

Initial information indicated that a tan-colored Ford Mustang left the scene of the robbery at a smoke shop in nearby San Jacinto.

Sheriff's investigators said early Wednesday that both vehicles were westbound on the Ramona Expressway when the driver of the speeding Mustang lost control.

Identities of the survivors were not released.
