EDD: Healthy job growth before virus struck INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The latest jobless figures issued Friday showed a 4 percent rate for February before the coronavirus inflicted layoffs amid the economic downsizing.
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) said the rate for Riverside-San Bernardino counties was slightly improved from January’s 4.1%. Since February of last year, local payrolls increased by 26,500 jobs with trade, transportation and utilities leading the way. Transportation, warehousing and utilities accounted for 97 percent of total job growth. The EDD emphasized that the February data “doesn’t reflect, any economic impacts being experienced now due to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in California.” Story Date: April 1, 2020
