Virus pandemic effectively shutters schools through the spring RIVERSIDE – (INT) – The county’s schools won’t reopen before June 19th under a modified virus closure order issued Thursday by Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser.
He said the safest option is to maintain the shutdown through the end of the school year. The initial closure was until April 30th. County Board of Supervisors Board Chairman V. Manuel Perez said “School districts will be working hard to ensure that youth have access to education through distance learning and access to school meals.” Individual school districts will have the discretion to determine essential personnel to support critical functions within their districts. To date, more than 1.31 million lunches have been provided by local school districts to students during the school closure order. Story Date: April 16, 2020
