High Desert motel robbery ends with three dead
VICTORVILLE – (INT) – A robbery of two guests at a Motel 6 has ended with the deaths of one victim, one of the suspects and her infant child.

Sheriff’s investigators determined that Calvin Pittman, 43, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a unidentified woman went into a motel room Monday night pushing a stroller with the child and robbed two men of their rental vehicle. One of the victims, a 56-year-old Temecula man, was fatally injured during an alleged fight.

Pittman, the woman and her child, fled and were not seen again until early Wednesday when an off-duty CHP officer found their stolen vehicle in a ditch at the side of the I-15 freeway near Baker. The woman and child had been struck and killed by a hit-run truck while trying to cross the freeway.

Pittman was arrested while walking along the freeway about a mile away.
