SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Supply and demand is pushing gasoline prices higher as the COVID-19 lock-down eases and people become more mobile.

Prices are moving closer to 3-dollars-a-gallon. The Automobile Club’s Gas Watch puts the California average for 87-octane regular at $2.88.

In the Riverside-San Bernardino area, pump prices gained 6-cents-a-gallon the past week for an average of $2.85.

“Gas price averages continue to be more than a dollar lower than this time last year and more than 60 cents lower than at the beginning of March when the pandemic began affecting gasoline demand,” Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring said.
