Virus forces transfer of Chino prison inmates CHINO – (INT) – Officials at the California Institute for Men (CIM) are preparing to transfer more than 600 inmates to other state prisons in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
None of the CIM prisoners to be transferred have tested positive to the virus and will be sent to lock-ups where there have been no coronavirus cases. Nine CIM inmates have died. o There are 923 incarcerated persons with active cases of COVID-19 statewide. o There are currently 130 active CDCR/CCHCS employee COVID-19 cases statewide (272 cumulative; 142 returned to work).
