Fontana strives for positive, lasting change
FONTANA (INT) - In response to the demonstrations that followed the police killing of George Floyd, the City of Fontana held a virtual community forum on June 25th to answer residents' questions and discuss positive, lasting change. During the forum, the City announced the creation of a Chief's Roundtable.

When asked about the City budget, primarily the distribution of 59.7% of funds to the police department, Mayor Acquanetta Warren stated, "It's vital that we are clear when it comes to this budget. What you pull this document from is the general fund, but we have an array of funds that provide activities and community services."

As for the general fund, Police Chief Billy Green explained that the police department makes up over 50% of the City's employees. Of the $65 million that the department will receive with the 2020-2021 general funds, approximately $55.5 million is personnel costs.
