INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – San Bernardino and Riverside counties had California’s 2nd and 3rd highest number of use of force incidents by police last year.

Figures for all of the state’s 58 counties issued by the California attorney general’s office Wednesday showed those 156 incidents were topped only by Los Angeles County.

LA County had 27 percent of the state’s total while use of force incidents in the Inland Empire accounted for 22 percent.

The San Bernardino County sheriff’s department recorded the most incidents in that county last year with 91 and officers with the Riverside County sheriff’s department were involved in twenty-two. Those are the two largest law enforcement agencies in the Inland Empire.

Statewide, 60 percent of the civilians involved in use of force incidents suffered serious bodily injury. Twenty percent were killed.
