Prices level out despite gas tax increase SOUTHLAND – (INT) – In spite of a 3.2-cent increase in gasoline taxes July 1st, pump prices appear to have peaked.
For the first time in 2-months, the Automobile Club says prices have leveled off. The statewide average of $3.07 for a gallon of 87 octane regular is only about 2-cents higher than the average in Riverside and San Bernardino. The Inland Empire’s current prices are still about 65-cents-a-gallon lower than last year at this time. “Wholesale gasoline prices have not continued their upward push of the past two months because the pause on reopening the economy has created worries about fuel demand,” said Auto Club spokesman Doug Shupe.
