Forest closures maintained as the wildfire season peaks
SOUTHLAND (INT) As California enters the peak of the autumn wildfire season, several forests remain closed to public recreation.

The San Bernardino, Cleveland and Angeles National Forests are among seven forests in California that were closed several weeks ago. Eleven others are open to varying degrees.

The U.S. Forest Service says it is reviewing the closures daily, taking fire and weather conditions into account.

The closures come as California reels from one of the worst and most destructive years of wildfire behavior in California history.
