Revenue shortfall forces court closures
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Another consequence of the pandemic is being felt in the justice system.

Beginning October 16th, all Riverside County Superior Courts will close one day per month and furlough some staff members.

It’s estimated that the Riverside Superior Court will have a revenue shortfall this fiscal year of $12 million as a result of the State of California’s $54 billion deficit.

In a public notice Tuesday, the court stated that closing courthouses, freezing staff positions, and reducing operating costs will not be enough to cover the anticipated shortfall.
