Pro’s and con’s of telecommuting
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – The pandemic may be handing a boost to telecommuting.

It’s estimated that 7,000 of the 10,000 Riverside County government employees are utilizing some form of telecommuting.

While it has reduced the need for office space, desks, phones, computers, and employee parking spaces and helped with traffic congestion, it has cut into customer contact and public access.

County Supervisor Kevin Jeffries wonders how employee evaluations will be done. “Now we are dealing with the ongoing sticky issues of making sure work is actually being performed at home, which employees could or should utilize telecommuting”, he said.

Some county agencies are reporting that their employees are more productive than ever before working remotely, without the distractions of the office environment.
