Detention center, hospital hit with COVID-19 citations
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Cal/OSHA is handing out fines and citations to organizations that fail to comply with directives to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

On its website, Cal/OSHA has fined the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department $17,895 for violations at the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta.

-Failure to annually review infection control procedures
-Failure to maintain training records of employees on occupational exposure
-Failure to implement an effective written infection control plan
-Did not provide annual training to staff

Cal/OSHA also fined the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Ontario $18,075 for three violations.

-Not recording illnesses on Cal/OSHA log
-Failing to notify Cal/OSHA of multiple serious work-related illnesses
-Failing to conduct employee screening for COVID-19 in testing tents
