Certification firms up November election in SB County
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – County election officials certified the results of the November election Wednesday and results of some close contests have been settled.

Two incumbents were ousted from the San Bernardino City Council in a pair of run-off contests. Fifth Ward Councilman Henry Nickel lost to Ben Reynoso by 600 votes. Nickel had represented the northern part of the city for 6-years. And, Seventh Ward Councilman Jim Mulvihill was sent packing by Damon Alexander.

County voters also gave a lot of attention to competing Measures J and K. Both were approved. But, Measure K supersedes the other because there were more total votes. Measure K will limit county supervisors to only one term with total compensation for salaries and benefits of $60,000 annually. County supervisors would be the lowest paid in Southern California.

The Biden-Harris presidential ticket was the favored choice of the county’s voters.

Certification also showed that just over 77 percent of the county’s registered voters cast ballots and that more than 63 percent returned mailed ballots.
