CTC approves funding for four inland projects
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Four local transportation projects will be funded through gas tax revenue authorized by Senate Bill 1.

The California Transportation Commission awarded funding Wednesday for the following projects:

• 71/91 Interchange Project, Corona: $58.1 million

• McKinley Avenue Railroad/Street Grade Separation Project, Corona: $10.3 million

• Limonite Avenue Gap Closure Project, Eastvale, $9.4 million

• $118 million for the Interstate 15 Corridor Project

The Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) had applied several times for state and federal funding to improve the 71/91 interchange at the west edge of Corona. The $58.1 million provides the final portion of the $121 million to rebuild the interchange. Work is expected to start in 2022 and open in 2024.

The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) was awarded $118 million for its Interstate 15 Corridor Project, which will cross the San Bernardino/Riverside County line to connect with RCTC’s 15 Express Lanes at Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road. The project to provide a seamless travel experience for express lane motorists.
