Residential fires take a heavy toll
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – 2021 is off to a horrific start in the number of deadly house fires across Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

Six people have perished since January 1st, more than in all of 2020. Twenty-two lives were lost in 2019.

In the latest, CalFire responded Wednesday night to reports of light smoke coming from a single-family residence on Bagatelle Street in Moreno Valley. One person was found and could not be resuscitated.

In San Bernardino County, three children were killed in house fires at Joshua Tree and Needles on January 7th.

The month started with two more deadly residential fires in Ontario and Colton.

Authorities did not list the causes of any of the fires. At least three other people were injured.
