Fontana police break silence on shooting death of suspected burglar ![]() FONTANA – (INT) – The late-night shooting death by police of a suspected burglar inside a portable restroom has been turned over to the county district attorney.
For the first time Thursday, Fontana police gave an account of the February 13th incident in a tract of new homes under construction. Officers initially had responded to a burglary where they found Daverion Kinard, 29, of Rancho Cucamonga fleeing from inside a nearby home. When Kinard was found hiding inside the restroom at the construction site, an officer fired a single shot that killed the unarmed Kinard. He was described as felon on Post Release Community Supervision for a previous burglary. The officer was not named and is on administrative leave. Story Date: February 23, 2021
