DUI driver kills two, accused of murder
INDIO--Two women have been killed and four other people hurt in a DUI-related crash on Interstate 10 east of here.

Highway Patrol officers had earlier chased Steven Chavez, 23, of West Covina but lost sight of his car before it crashed into a pick-up truck.

Killed in that vehicle were two passengers, Toni Webb, 43, and Rosemary Webb, 75, both of Whittier.

CHP Officer Ramon Perez says Chavez survived with minor injuries.

“Mr. Chavez was booked on suspicion of murder, for felony evading and felony driving under the influence.”

Chavez was held Monday at the county jail in Indio.
