Bears invade foothill community
SAN ANTONIO HEIGHTS--Aggressive bears have been breaking through doors and windows of local homes to get food and water in this foothill community above Upland. But, one has met its match.

Frightened residents flagged down a sheriff’s deputy Wednesday to report an adult black bear was running through yards damaging fences and gates.

In a brief backyard confrontation, the deputy shot and killed the bear as it charged toward him.

State Fish and Game officials said the animal had been tagged and relocated at least once before.

In June, another bear invaded a home through a window forcing the family to retreat to a bedroom for safety.
