KFWB abandons all-news format
LOS ANGELES--Southern California is getting another player in talk radio.

Los Angeles’ first all-news radio format hit the airwaves in 1968. Beginning next month, KFWB (980 AM) switches to a news-talk format when Dr. Laura Schlessinger signs on leaving KFI (640 AM).

KFWB plans other syndicated programs from 9am to 6pm with local news updates at the top of each hour.

KFWB had billed itself as “All News, All the Time”, but that title has been shifted to its sister station KNX (1070AM) where many of KFWB’s anchors and reporters are now heard.
