Restaurant gunman bent on domestic violence
SAN BERNARDINO – Investigators are slowly developing a case of domestic violence that triggered the weekend shooting of five people at a Del Taco restaurant.
Lt. Ron Garcia says there’s no doubt that a couple and their two sons were the target of Jimmy Schlager.
“There is evidence that Mr. Schlager was tied to the Trujillo family. We continue to investigate his background.”
Garcia says they have interviewed 20 witnesses. Some describe Schlager, riding up on a bicycle, barging into the restaurant and confronting his step-daughter as she sat in a booth with her husband, Alex Trujillo, and their young sons.
Schlager cranked off several shots from two handguns and then killed himself. Mr. Trujillo and 6-year-old Adrian Trujillo were fatally shot. His wife and a 5-year-old son survived. (INT)
