Poll: Legal pot gaining favor
SAN FRANCISCO – A new poll suggests more voters are going to pot.

California voters now hold much more permissive views about marijuana laws than they did when The Field Poll began polling on this topic more than forty years ago.

A recent Field Poll finds that half of this state’s registered voters now favor the legalization of marijuana. This compares to 13% who would prefer to keep it illegal but reduce its penalties, 19% who favor strictly enforcing present laws, and 14% who want to pass new, tougher laws against its use.

In 1969, support for the legalization of marijuana included just 13% of Californians. (INT)
